Volunteer

Albany Barn has a volunteer opportunity for just about everyone, whether you have an hour, a month or 30 hours a week! Below is a brief description of the kinds of opportunities we have available. Event Staff

Albany Barn participates in a variety of events both in house at Stage 1 and around the city and Capital Region! We are always looking for energetic, outgoing people to help spread the word about the Barn at these events! The time commitment for events is generally small, consisting of flexible 1-2 hour shifts. Event Staff are usually responsible for answering questions about Albany Barn, assisting in set-up/breakdown as needed, and increasing our community contacts and volunteer base by encouraging people to sign up for our mailing list or as a volunteer. A volunteer orientation will be available prior to all events to ensure our event staff go out with the most up-to-date information about Albany Barn and clear direction for the event they will be working.

Internships

Albany Barn, Inc is currently recruiting interns for the summer and fall semesters. Internships are offered to students enrolled in a a program for which they can receive credit or recent graduates looking to increase their professional experience. An internship with Albany Barn offers a wide variety of experience ranging from administrative duties to planning and execution of projects and programming, and can easily be customized to best utilize and develop the skills and interests of our interns!

Barn Raising Teams

Each of our working teams (Facilities, Operations, Events & Programming, and Marketing) is chaired by a member of our Board of Directors and will work on more focused tasks related to the strategic plan of Albany Barn:

Facilities Team

The Facilities Team is working with our project partners, the Albany Housing Authority, and the building design group to develop and finalize building plans for The Barn/Academy Lofts.

The Events & Programming Team is responsible for producing Albany Barn’s annual fundraiser and programs/events at our community art space, Stage 1, including the annual Summer in the City Youth Talent Exhibition.

The Marketing Team works closely with other Teams to direct marketing, promotions and publicity including branding/design, web, e-newsletters, social media, print, outreach events and more.
